Born Jan, 4, 1973 in Benton Harbor Michigan. Winter Walker is a: Singer, Master Guitarist, Teacher, Music Producer & Performing Artist. His Musical Influences range from Jazz/Classical to Pop/Hard Rock.
Picking up the guitar at age six, he received another full sized acoustic for his 8th birthday, giving the old one to a companion and teaching the boy his first chords.
“After watching Elvis last concert on TV, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. Then I began the long/arduous process of listening to records repeatedly and rewinding cassette tapes. Hard way to learn, but a great way to develop an ear for things.”
After graduating, Winter moved to Jonesboro Arkansas to be near family. The hungry musician, not yet 20-years old and already versed in 15-styles of music, continued teaching and playing local venues, getting picked up two years later by famous artist John Scott (Jamie Johnson, Vasser Clements, Jimmy Davis & Junction…..).
He would continue to work with John for the better part of six years, functioning as a Worship Leader in several churches, and doing countless free performances for local audiences while not on tour.
At age 26, Winter traveled the west coast with High-Energy Swing Band Jive Deluxe – headed by singer/songwriter Steve Hess.
“It was a great learning experience. I was trading licks every night with experienced Jazz players, trying to look like I knew what I was doing. I felt like a baffoon!!”
Through the ongoing years the artist would continue the pattern of local activity, then disappearing when the phone would ring and offers to return to the road surfaced.
Mr. Winter now spends his creative efforts producing other artists and playing Top 40 hits for acoustic venues in the Lake County Colorado area.
