Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist/Multi-instrumentalist … Alternative, Rock, Indie, Americana
I write songs faster than I can record them….lyrics are important to me. Changing direction with each piece of work and rather than submit to any trends, I create music that I like first and foremost. Music that keeps me interested, that is the secret to longevity I think.
For me it started when I was 9 years old. Rock and Roll got its hooks in me. It was the Beatles and KISS at first. I always liked the variety of music in my folk’s record collection like Ray Charles, Waylon Jennings and The Carpenters.
It wasn’t until rock and roll infected me that I really knew what I wanted to do.
At first it was buy a guitar, learn the blues. I listened to all of the old greats. Robert Johnson and Elmore James were a couple favorites.
I bought a 4 track recorder and started layering sounds and learning how to arrange music. I started a few bands.
Each time a band broke up I would go back to the recorder and start writing and recording music.
I like the fact that I can create entire pieces of music on my own, as a painter would do. It’s a true representation of my musical soul. I have been influenced by so many people.
Some of the main ones I’d say are Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Zep, Marley, Bowie, Queen, Beatles, Stones, Clapton, Pink Floyd, Prince, Radiohead, Wilco.
