Chris Stephen (stagename) is a strapping 6’4” plus young man that you might find anywhere from pitchin’ hay in a barn to riding dirt bikes in the mountains.
He is East TN born and bred through and through. Born in 1997 just outside Knoxville, TN, his family roots run through the mountains all the way back to the late 1600’s; Appalachia and Country Music is in his soul.
Music has always been a major influence in Chris’ life, from kicking in the womb whenever the bagpipes played, to marching on the field as a member of the Pride of The Southland Band & a Music Education Major at the University of TN.
He’s a young man with rich, deep mature voice, an old country soul and a love of family, God, strong friendships and a simple country life as his guiding values.
Chris has a strong passion for everything outdoors, from hunting and fishing to hiking and kayaking.
Equally important to him is his strong sense of freedom, liberty and patriotism. His passions and values, and how they sometimes clash in today’s world, are often found in the heart of his music.
His musical accolades began as early as the 2nd grade and have continued throughout his career.Chris graduated Summa cum laude and National Honor Society with a 4.2 GPA, from Alcoa High School.
He also played Trombone all four years in the Alcoa Marching Band, helping them to win numerous band competitions, as well as writing most of the arrangements for their Stand Tunes his Jr. and Sr. years.
He was also selected for ETSBOA All East and All East Jazz from his Sophomore through Senior years.
Chris began singing, songwriting and performing at the age of 16. He continues to hone his craft and plans to extend his success and awards in the world of Country Music.
His first album, a 6 song EP, released April 14, 2017, is self-titled and was Produced by Smith Curry in Nashville, TN. It was released by the Indie label Old Joe Music & Entertainment Inc.
Chris says that the biggest influences on his music and style are: Zac Brown, Josh Turner, Eric Church, Chris Young, George Strait, Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels and John Fogarty & Creedence Clearwater Revival.
His voice and sound has been most likened to: Chris Young, Randy Travis, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins
10 days prior to release, Chris’s EP was put into the Country Music Rotation of JmediaFM internet radio, where his EP made the Top 10 Country list in less than 4 days, as well as being played on the Marshall Andy Show on WLIL Country 730 AM & 102.7 FM in Lenoir City, TN, LOZ, Radio Internet Radio, Jango, Radio Airplay, Triplestrand Productions Country Radio (syndicated to 112 commercial stations worldwide), IMP Country with syndication to more than 80 stations in 12 countries and, The Blacksheep Network .
Additionally, Chris was honored & recognized for his young impact in Country Music by being invited to perform as a Featured Artist in the Annual Keith Whitley Memorial Show, May 6, 2017 in Sandy Hook, KY. This young artist is quickly making a big splash in the world of Country Music.
